On June 17th the University Division of IT announced to the Smith community that it will be consolidating and migrating all work-related email accounts to their mail platform the weekend of July 10th. All accounts identified as being an active appointment of work-status (e.g. faculty, staff, adjunct, student employees etc) will be moved to the campus UMD G Suite implementation.
For those who used to have a work-account on Smoogle (but are not being migrated as DIT has determined you do not have a current active appointment) you will have to work with your department coordinator who can work with HR/Payroll to see about getting you a new account on the campus UMD G Suite instance if appropriate. The Office of Smith IT is not involved in the process and cannot assist.
Smith School graduate students retain access to their email accounts, although renamed to user@marylandsmith.umd.edu from user@rhsmith.umd.edu. It’s the same account - just renamed - so the existing password continues to function, no data has been lost, migrated or moved, it’s all as before but with a new email address. Anything sent to the old user@rhsmith.umd.edu will be delivered to the account as before.
The Smoogle password reset utility has been retired during the mail migration. All the work-accounts as described above will be disabled and inaccessible on Smoogle starting the migration weekend and access will not be re-granted. You will need to access your work account on the UMD G Suite instance. See it.umd.edu for assistance. A new simple self-service password reset system for students and alumni with accounts will be activated post-migration weekend. Thank you Office of Smith IT
